§ 16.08.080. Quiet zones.

  • (a)

    Fourth Street Southeast between Kansas Avenue and a point two hundred feet east of Iowa Avenue and Iowa Avenue Southeast between Fifty Street and a point two hundred feet north of Fourth Street are hereby designated quiet zones. The department shall designate such zones by placing a sign or marker at either end thereof.

    (b)

    The department may temporarily establish a zone of quiet upon any street where a person is seriously ill, if requested so to do by the written statement of a registered physician certifying to its necessity. Such temporary zone of quiet shall embrace all territory within a radius of two hundred feet of the building occupied by the person named in the request of said physician. Such temporary zone of quiet and any other zone of quiet declared by any ordinance shall be designated by placing at a conspicuous place in the street a sign or marker bearing the words "Quiet Zone."

    (c)

    In any "quiet zone," no person shall create any noise that can be heard for more than fifty (50) feet from the source.
