§ 16.28.075. Service zones.

  • The chief of police is authorized to issue a permit for "service parking" which term shall mean the use of parking spaces for vehicle parking exceeding the parking time limitation, materials and dumpsters while rendering service in cleaning, painting, adjusting or making minor repairs or replacement in or to buildings, or building equipment upon the following conditions:

    (1)

    Application shall be made to the chief of police on such forms as the chief of police shall prescribe. The applicant shall set forth the applicant's business and the necessity for such permit.

    (2)

    If it appears that a necessity exists, the chief of police may authorize the issuance of a service permit upon payment of the fee established by resolution of the governing board and on the conditions hereinafter prescribed.

    (3)

    The service permits shall show the name of the permittee location and the purpose of the service permit, and the valid dates of the service permit. The applicant granted a service permit shall present the service permit upon request by law enforcement or by the building inspector.

    (4)

    The chief of police may revoke any permit if the service zone is used for any purpose other than that authorized herein or for any violation of the terms and conditions of this chapter. Upon revocation, the permit shall be immediately returned to the department and all fees paid shall be forfeited. Police officers finding such zone in use shall investigate the use being made thereon and if it is found in violation of this chapter, shall report the facts to the chief of police.
