 Chapter 16.28. STOPPING, STANDING AND PARKING

  § 16.28.130. Core area delivery vehicle parking.

  • All drivers of delivery vehicles shall abide by the following rules and regulations if parking the delivery vehicle within the core area or on a designated snow emergency route as designated in Section 16.30.010(1), or in an alley:

    (a)

    Whenever possible, delivery vehicles shall be parked at the rear entrance to buildings for loading and unloading merchandise; if no rear entrance is available, delivery vehicles shall be parked in marked parking spaces; should it not be possible to use the building rear entrance or marked parking spaces, for loading and unloading merchandise only, the delivery vehicle may be (1) parked in a municipal parking lot, (2) double parked, or (3) within the core area on Kansas Avenue, Wisconsin Avenue, Second Street and Fourth Street only, in the middle of the street. When double-parked or parked in the middle of the street, warning blinkers on the vehicle must be activated. Nothing within this provision restricts the right of a police officer to order the delivery vehicle be moved if in the opinion of the police officer the location of the parked vehicle constitutes an impermissible risk of motor vehicle accident.

    (b)

    Delivery vehicle parking as set forth in this ordinance is applicable only to delivery vehicles in use at the time of parking for the loading and unloading merchandise.

    (c)

    Notwithstanding any other provision in ordinance, no delivery vehicle shall be parked next to fire hydrants or crosswalks.

    (d)

    Delivery vehicles shall not be parked in a manner which block entrances.

    (e)

    When two or more trucks are standing on opposite sides of and in the same alley, the truck last arriving shall be placed in a staggered position leaving sufficient space for clear passage of other vehicles.

Ord. No. 2115-16-85, adopted June 25, 2012, repealed former § 16.28.130, and enacted a new § 16.28.130 as set out herein. Former § 16.28.130 pertained to delivery vehicle sticker regulations and derived from Ord. No. 860-16-1 (part), adopted 1964.
